The famous bead tree on Tulane's uptown campus was once a real tree which has recently been replaced by this contemporary art style metallic version - all the better to hold the beads that are historically thrown on this tree during parades and Mardi Gras in New Orleans: a lively sign of Tulane's place in NOLA culture.
